S.J. Suryah is well known in India as a filmmaker and actor and as a screenwriter partly because of his novel approach to storytelling and heart-wrenching performances in the Tamil form of cinema.

Before Fame

He started his career as an assistant director under well-known directors and debuted as a filmmaker in the blockbuster Vaalee in 1999.

Trivia

His movie New (2004) was a hit despite controversy, and his acting in Iraivi (2016) was critically appraised. Mixing romance, and drama, with fairly inventive storylines, he seemed to have made a great mark in the industry.

Family Life

Born in Vasudevanallur, Tamil Nadu, he keeps his personal history a mystery, but he gives credit to his family for inspiring his interest in films.
